What is Emporium? As we love the beverage very much and as a small group our lives are dedicated to bringing our passion to your cup. We've been growing tea and working in the tea gardens and have created the most amazing blend through our imaginative thought process. Our closest friends run these magnificent estates and we are constantly in contact with many of the people who pluck our tea by hand. Additionally we are aware of how many of those families have worked for generations within the unique grading and tasting rooms in these 'tea factories'. Through cultivation, and a one on one relationship coupled with the best tea gardens gives us the chance to bring you the very purest of tea packets and bags. Our secret is that we purchase single tea estates and thereby create a blend for our customers which mean that we avoid teas that are blended at source. By working as a family we can focus on quality and taste and not on the trivial things such as cost of the product or shareholder dividends. Who cares wins Emporium cares about the conditions under which our tea is produced and our team benefits from experience and local knowledge of the gardens where we operate as well as significant local knowledge and control over our supply chains. Ceylon is the former name of Sri Lanka and is the home of our tea - improving relationships between estate management and workers. Emporium is taking a hands on approach in improving labour relations in Sri Lankan tea estates. Together we have been involved in the use of CARE which are improving the relationships and understanding between tea companies and the estate workers. We greatly value the estate workers and see ourselves as having a very positive influence on estates, so much so that estates not involved in the project are asking how to get an Emporium buyer to visit their estate. We have in the past been providing initial information on the conditions at the tea estates and the key areas where improvement is required. We are continually updating our knowledge and relationships with producers through visits and working in partnership, both locally and with other organisations. Emporium tea is here to improve the sustainability of the tea sector. We share a vision of a thriving industry that is socially just and environmentally sustainable. Our privately owned specialist company is producing ‘boutique’ blends. |
